This study aimed to adapt the Avoidance of Sports and Physical Activity Scale developed by Bevan et al. (2022) from English to Turkish. The research group consisted of 384 participants in the scale adaptation process. Around 154 (40.1%) of the participants were female and 230 (59.9%) were male. In order to ensure the language validity of the scale, the relevant scale was first translated into Turkish by at least two foreign language and translation experts who were fluent in both the original language of the scale and Turkish. In the second stage, a comparison was made between the scales, and the most appropriate translations and common points were taken into consideration. In the third stage, the resulting form was compared with the original form of the measurement tool. The opinions of two experts who are experienced in foreign languages were obtained. Finally, in the fourth stage, the original and Turkish forms of the scale were evaluated by one sports psychology expert and one psychological guidance expert faculty member, and it was concluded that the language validity of the scale was established. Expert opinions were provided in terms of content validity, and both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used in terms of structural validity. As a result of the validity studies, it was determined that the scale consisted of 9 items with a single factor and explained 63.43% of the variance. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis analysis applied to the scale, it was found that the RMSEA, AGFI, and χ2 values had acceptable fit in the fit index calculations, while the GFI, CFI, and SRMR values were in the excellent range. The Cronbach alpha (α) value of the scale was found to be 0.92. Consequently, it was determined that the Avoidance of Sports and Physical Activity Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
